About Me

Pearis Jean, PhD is a counseling psychologist and assistant professor. Dr. Jean’s teaching, research, and advocacy is focused on Black liberation and Black wellness. She is a proud graduate of Hampton University where she majored in psychology with a leadership studies minor. She went on to attend the University of Florida where she received her master’s degree in psychology and PhD in counseling psychology. She also completed her doctoral internship at the American University Center for Well-Being Programs and Psychological Services. Her research focuses on the development of individual and community-level interventions to support the wellness of survivors of trauma with a focus on the Black community.
